Washington DC Homeowners Are Drowning In The Country’s Highest Level Of Mortgage Debt Washington DC homeowners are drowning in the country’s highest level of mortgage debt. The average Washington DC homeowner has an average of more than $400,000 in loans per borrower.  Residents in Hawaii, California, Washington state and Colorado are also struggling with hundreds of thousands in mortgage debt. The National Association of Realtors reported June home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 5.27 million units.  Sales have shriveled 2.2% over the past 12 months despite a robust job market and falling mortgage rates. Transgender Hacker Busted In Massive Capital One Hack

Transgender Hacker Arrested For Stealing Data From 100 Million Capital One Customers In Mass Hack A Seattle-based transgender hacker named Paige Thompson has been arrested for hacking Capital One bank’s systems to steal data it stored on Amazon’s Web Services cloud. Thompson is a former Amazon systems engineer. Thompson had planned to steal the addresses, phone numbers and names of 100 million people in the United States.  The transgender woman accessed the social security numbers on 140,000 people. She was able to get credit card numbers on 80,000 additional people. Thompson allegedly pulled it off between March and July of this year. She broke into the bank’s servers through a misconfiguration in its firewall.  Amazon’s Web Services cloud was storing the data. However, Amazon insists it is not to blame for the hack. Amazon claims she exploited Capital One’s systems to access it.  Capital One admitted that it was a fault in its infrastructure.  Read more at MFI-Miami

La Crémaillère Restaurant Owner Gets A Little Too Creative With An X-Acto Knife And Wite-Out The feds have indicted Barbara Meyzen a/k/a Bobbie Meyzen on multiple fraud charges. Meyzen is the owner and operator of the chic La Crémaillère Restaurant in Banksville, New York. United States Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said: When Barbara Meyzen’s upscale clientele of bankers, celebrities, and other notable figures frequented her restaurant, they saw a stately French manor in a serene Westchester suburb.  What they did not see was the alleged rampant financial fraud that was happening.  As a result of her alleged fraud, Barbara Meyzen has potentially earned herself a reservation for one in federal prison. Meyzen  has owned and operated  the La Crémaillère Restaurant since 1993. Karen Montesanto and her realtors insist the Hamilton, Ontario neighborhood is safe. Montesanto moved into her home on St. Clair Boulevard next to the notorious crime boss five years ago. She recently decided to sell and placed the property on the market for $990,000 in February. Montesanto dropped the price by $150,000 after no one bid. That didn’t do the trick. DITECH BANKRUPTCY LIQUIDATION PLAN IN TROUBLE AS NEW YORK AG INVESTIGATES SHADY RMS SERVICING PRACTICES The New York Attorney General has filed a brief in the Ditech bankruptcy case. AG Letitia James objected to the Ditech bankruptcy liquidation plan. She argues that the plan will strip homeowners of their rights. James also argues that Ditech and Reverse Mortgage Solutions are using bankruptcy protection to circumvent statutory protections for homeowners. The brief also states said that the Ditech has more than 880 foreclosure actions pending in New York. This includes 642 forward and 239 reverse mortgages. The current Ditech bankruptcy liquidation plan threatens to sweep these homeowners’ claims and defenses under the rug. MAGA Bomber Cesar Altieri Sayoc’s Lawyers Accuse Fox News Of Radicalizing Their Client  Attorneys for MAGA Bomber Cesar Altieri Sayoc say he became radicalized from daily consumption of Fox News and Donald Trump’s Twitter feed. This led him to start believing conspiracy theories on the internet. Cesar Altieri Sayoc’s attorneys wrote in their sentencing memo that their client struggled with steroid abuse that created mental illness. Consequently, Sayoc became susceptible to outlandish reports in the news and on social media. As a result, Sayoc came to believe that prominent Democrats were actively working to hurt him and other Trump supporters. Fox News and from the president himself reinforced this idea hourly. Waterstone Mortgage Now Offering No Credit Score Mortgages. Is This A Game Changer? Up until now, if you had bad or no credit history you couldn’t get a mortgage. Wisconsin-based Waterstone Mortgage announced yesterday that it is now lending to borrowers who do not have a credit history. Waterstone Mortgage is making the program is available in the 48 states. Waterstone Mortgage is calling their program, the “Non-Traditional Credit Program.” The company says it will use other payment history indicators. Reverse Mortgage Solutions Sale Could Leave Seniors Abandoned

Bank of America Warns Ditech’s Sale of Reverse Mortgage Solutions Could Leave Seniors Abandoned Ditech Holdings announced last month that it had  entered into an agreement  to sell Reverse Mortgage Solutions. Ditech is selling the reverse mortgage unit as part of its bankruptcy restructuring. However, Bank of America is objecting to the sale. Bank of America has a servicing agreement with Reverse Mortgage Solutions. They filed a motion in the bankruptcy court objecting to the deal as it currently stands. They also allege that it threatens to abandon the thousands of elderly borrowers whose reverse mortgages are being serviced by RMS. Ditech’s current deal has it selling off the stock and assets of RMS to Mortgage Assets Management. Bank of America claims the sale does not uphold its agreement with RMS. BofA also states their agreement stipulates that RMS provides them with extensive lead time to establish other servicing arrangements of its borrowers. Read more at MFI-Mi

Federal Judge In Maryland Green Lights Bank of America Housing Discrimination Lawsuit  A federal judge in Maryland denied a motion Thursday to dismiss a Bank of America housing Discrimination lawsuit. 20 housing groups and two homeowners filed the suit against Bank of America and Safeguard Properties Management.  The  suit was  filed in June of 2018. The housing groups accuse the two companies of intentionally failing to provide routine exterior maintenance. They also accuse BofA of not marketing the BofA-owned homes in Black and Latino neighborhoods. However, BofA consistently maintains similar bank-owned properties in white neighborhoods. Plaintiffs also say BofA actively markets those properties. NFHA said the lawsuit was the culmination of a multi-year investigation by the organization and its fair housing partners. Credit Reporting Agency Equifax To Pay $650 Million Settlement With Federal Trade Commission Credit reporting agency Equifax will  pay around $650 million  to settle with the Federal Trade Commission. The credit reporting agency experienced a massive data breach in 2017. The breach exposed Social Security numbers and other private information of nearly 150 million people. The  Wall Street Journal said  the settlement could be announced as soon as Monday. Equifax declined to comment. The report says the deal would resolve investigations by the FTC and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It would also end investigations by most state attorneys general. Foreign Buyers Bolt From American Housing Market In California And Florida Amid Trump Mental Instability Foreign buyers buying American real estate purchases  plummetted to $77.9 billion  from March 2018 through March 2019. This down 36% from the previous year and the finger is being pointed directly at the  Trump Administration . The National Association Realtors says buyers from China were the biggest group to flee the American housing market. Sales from Chinese plummeted 56% in the 12 months ended in March. Chinese people bought $13.4 billion of American homes during the 12 months ended in March. The NAR says foreign buyers from China purchased $30.4 billion a year earlier. Suntrust Bank Employee To Spend 2 Years Clutching Soap In Prison For Stealing $171,000 From Elderly Bank Customer Federal Judge Carlos E. Mendoza sentenced a Suntrust Bank employee to 23 months in federal prison.  Reginald Green II  had been charged with stealing $171,000 of a customer’s funds. A jury had found Green guilty in December of last year. The SunTrust Bank employee stole more than $171,000 from a bank customer. Green withdrew more funds then the bank client had authorized. Sasser became famous in foreclosure defense circles because of her disdain for Florida foreclosure activists and intolerance for pro-se foreclosure litigants. Sasser saw the Florida foreclosure activists as nothing more than a marketing tool for shady lawyers. Shady lawyers who exploited the fears of homeowners into giving them their last hard-earned dime. It turned out, Sasser was right. Disgraced attorney Carol Asbury was Sasser’s biggest critic. Asbury and her minions to accused Sasser of everything  being incompetent  to being in the pockets of the banking industry. Rhode Island Property Preservationist Busted In $10 Million Scam Selling Properties She Didn’t Own Rhode Island Property Preservationist  Monique Brady admitted  to operating a $10.3 million dollar Ponzi scheme. Banks and mortgage servicers hired Brady’s company MNB to perform general maintenance on foreclosed homes. The majority of projects secured by MNB were for less than $1,000. Many were for as little as $25 dollars to a few hundred dollars. However, that’s not what she told potential investor interested in purchasing the property. Brady  told potential investors  MNB had secured contracts to perform large scale rehabilitation projects on foreclosed properties in New England. Career Insurance Fraudster Scott Jawetz Is Finally Facing Prison Time But Not For Insurance Fraud But Tax Fraud Career insurance fraudster  pleaded guilty today  in federal court in Michigan. Scott Jawetz pleaded guilty today to conspiring to impede the functions of the IRS. He also pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal from the Detroit Police Department.  Court documents show the Boca Raton resident executed a four-year scheme to steal police reports from the Detroit Police Department. The police reports contained automobile crash victim information. Jawetz and his co-conspirators used a business entity known as Blue Horseshoe perpetuate the scheme. Consequently, Jawetz used the stolen information to solicit automobile accident victims for medical and chiropractic services. The non-profit director of Human First was convicted today for embezzling funds, bank fraud, and money laundering. Human First is a non-profit organization based in Nassau County. The charity provides services to developmentally disabled individuals. Federal prosecutors accused  Wafa Abboud  of pilfering nearly a million dollars from the charity. United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Richard P. Donoghue announced the verdict: Abboud has been held accountable for abusing her position of trust as the Executive Director of a charity and funding her elaborate lifestyle with money intended to serve the needs of vulnerable individuals in the community.
