He also says he has a plan to help President Trump eliminate $3 Trillion dollars from the U.S. national debt. Bruce Lewis has sat behind bars for the past year as he awaits trial for operating a mortgage fraud scheme.   He fired his court-appointed attorney in April. This prompted U.S. District Judge Nelson Roman to appoint another attorney to assist in the case. The 66-year-old Lewis considers himself a  “sovereign citizen,”  and wants to represent himself because he claims to have an existing contract with “I, me and myself.” The judge ruled Lewis mentally competent but he denied the man’s request to represent himself. Mnuchin and his wife found a wrapped in holiday gift paper filled with horse manure when they arrived home for the holidays. The package was thought to be a bomb or a suspicious package. However, officials later said its contents were not a threat. Police did not release further information about the package. LAPD Sgt. R. Miami Escort Service Owner Indicted For Allegedly Filing Fraudulent Corporate and Individual Income Tax Returns The Federal government had indicted Dennis Zarudny for making and subscribing false tax returns. Zarudny is one of the top Miami escort service providers. Zarudny faces a statutory maximum sentence of three years in prison for each of the eight counts.  He also faces a period of supervised release and restitution. In addition, he also faces paying monetary penalties. The indictment also alleges that from 2011 through 2014 Zarudny filed with the IRS fraudulent corporate and personal income tax returns that underreported his business gross receipts and the income he earned from the business. A judge found them in contempt for failing to turn over evidence in a civil foreclosure case. The attorneys for Ditech Financial failed to comply with a Miami-Dade judge’s order to produce training manuals discussed by Ditech representative Christopher Ogden in a deposition. Feds Indict Former Mortgage Lender John Reimer For Bank Fraud And Wire Fraud The United States Department of Justice has i ndicted former mortgage lender John Reimer. Reimer is accused of one count of bank fraud and one count of mortgage fraud. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.   The former mortgage lender allegedly participated in a scheme to defraud banks of money intended for individuals seeking home loans.  Acting U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim said:  As alleged, John Reimer, vice president of a mortgage bank, defrauded several other financial institutions of more than $12 million.  Reimer allegedly falsified documents, kept funding for mortgages that never closed. NYDFS Investigation Found PHH Mortgage Failed To Maintain Single Foreclosed Property The state of New York fined PHH Mortgage $119,000 for not maintaining this foreclosed home in New Lebanon New York has issued its first fine under its new Zombie Home Law. The lucky recipient is PHH Mortgage. The state of New York enacted the laws in 2016 to address the state’s issues with zombie homes. New York requires lenders and mortgage servicers to report vacant and abandoned properties to the state. The law requires servicers and lenders to maintain the properties they believe to be vacant due to foreclosure. So, It's time to talk about Robo-signing in this installment of New York Foreclosure Defense 411. A foreclosing lender must demonstrate three things in order to foreclose. The first being that they must prove the homeowner has defaulted on the mortgage. Secondly, the amount of the debt they are attempting to collect is correct. Lastly, they also have to prove they have legal standing to enforce the mortgage and the note.  The lender must include the requisite facts in a New York foreclosure complaint. They must also include documents such as the mortgage, any mortgage assignments, and the note.  The law firm handling the foreclosure must also include an affidavit stating they believe the facts to be true. MFI-Miami did investigative work for a plethora of customers of Mr. Cooper Mortgage fka Nationstar over the past five years. We did the reports and handed them to my clients' attorneys.
