Judge Rules Against Landlords Challenging NY Governor Cuomo’s Eviction Moratorium

NY landlords are shellshocked! A federal judge upheld the NYS eviction moratorium. Judge Colleen McMahon rejected a challenge by a group of New York landlords who were seeking to end Governor Andrew Cuomo’s executive order.

Cuomo extended the state’s moratorium on evictions until August 20th. The order temporarily prohibits landlords from initiating eviction proceedings against tenants during the pandemic. The order also bans late payments or fees for missed rent payments. The moratorium also allows renters who are facing financial hardships to use their security deposit as payment. However, the renter must repay their security deposit at a later date.

Three Westchester-based landlords sued Cuomo in an attempt to block his executive order. They allege the state’s measure violated their contracts, due process, and property rights under the U.S. Constitution.

House Candidate Jennifer Suidan Accused Of Embezzling $100,000 From Elected Official’s Campaign Account A Michigan House candidate is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from another politician’s campaign funds. Jennifer Suidan  allegedly embezzled more than $100,000 from Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner’s campaign account. Meisner made the allegations at a  news conference from the  Goodman Acker  law firm. Suidan worked at the law firm and was fired because of the alleged embezzlement. She worked as a nonlawyer managing the campaign funds at the law firm for Meisner and other Democrats. The prominent suburban Detroit law firm handles primarily personal injury claims. Disgraced Toilet Slave Priest Peter Miqueli Who Used Church Funds To Pay For S&M Master Found Dead Disgraced toilet slave priest ­Peter Miqueli was found dead in his New Jersey home yesterday. Miqueli was  accused of embezzling $1 million  from his Bronx parish in 2015.
